Dean College Football: Dean vs Westfield State

FRANKLIN, MA. – The Dean College Bulldogs Football team lost to the Westfield State Owls, 48-6, on Saturday at Dale Lippert Field.
The Owls were led by Quarterback Miles Foerster, who was a perfect 10-10 on pass competitions throwing for 137 yards and three touchdowns. Westfield got the scoring underway with an 18-yard rushing touchdown from Aidan Patterson midway through the first quarter. Manny Mengata contributed 16-rushing yards to the drive.
The Bulldogs took over at their own 19-yard line and needed a response. The Bulldogs and Nick Levine found early success after Levine found his man Dee Means on a 16-yard gain, and the again to Tay Sholtz for 10 yards. Deans’ drive unfortunately stalled out after an offensive penalty which led to a punt.
Westfield started off the second quarter just where they left off as they put together a drive that went for 85-yards and a touchdown. Foerster started the drive through the air connecting on two passes both completing first downs. After a few more chunk plays, Foerster linked up with Casey Tang on a 30-yard passing touchdown to extend the lead to 14-0 in the second quarter.

The Owls punched in again as Mengata, Foerster, and Patterson all combined for 47 rushing yards with Patterson being the one crossing the goal line.
The play of the game for the Bulldogs began with a snap for Westfield. A fumble from Foerster gave K-Vorn Pemberton a golden opportunity and he was able to return a 71-yard scoop and score touchdown.
“It was great to get points from the defense this week and capitalize on the turnovers we have caused” said Defensive Coordinator Chris Reading. Reading also mentioned their impressive nine caused turnovers already this season.
In the second half, Dean was only able to possess the ball for 8:38 of total time. Westfield State, having majority of the ball, was able to take advantage scoring two touchdowns in the 3rd quarter. Foerster began the second half scoring with another passing touchdown, this time to Patterson. Westfield scored three more touchdowns courtesy of Will Brewster, JC Pena, and Nick Boucher.
Josiah Morales led the Bulldogs with 72 passing yards, and Da’Qwon Foster led with 43 receiving yards.
Reading added, “We need to pay a full game of mistake free football to finally get over the top and win.”
The Bulldogs fall to 0-3 and will travel to Milton, Massachusetts to face off against Curry College on Saturday, September 27th at 12:00pm.
