Countdown to Launch has officially taken flight with the release of its first episode, The Space Between Eras.
This opening film sets the stage for what the series is all about — telling the story of space exploration in a way that feels accessible, engaging, and built for a new generation of viewers. At just under ten minutes, The Space Between Eras looks at how human spaceflight has moved through distinct chapters: the Apollo era, the Space Shuttle era, and now Artemis. Each of these programs carried its own triumphs, setbacks, and challenges, but together they form the larger story of how we keep pushing forward.

The film uses a mix of archival NASA footage and new editing to highlight the transitions between programs, the countdowns that marked the end of one chapter and the start of another. While this episode doesn’t aim to cover everything, it’s meant as a proof of concept: showing how Countdown to Launch can balance history, storytelling, and media style to get people excited about space again.
Future episodes will take on different tones and formats, from sports-style draft nights to mockumentary tours, but The Space Between Eras is the foundation. It’s where the journey begins, and it sets the tone for a project that blends creativity with real science and history.
For a first step, the goal was simple: show that the story of space isn’t just about rockets or missions, but about the way each generation takes the torch and carries it forward.
