George Karavasileiadis, owner of the Menchie's Frozen Yogurt location at Patriot Place, has spent the past decade building a business centered around quality products and the customer experience. With years of experience in the restaurant and ownership industry, Karavasileiadis is no stranger to the challenges of running a business.
However, his Menchie's location offers something different: a chance to connect with customers of all ages in one of Foxborough's busiest destinations. Often referred to as “Menchie’s Lounge,” Menchie’s offers a welcoming fro-yo atmosphere, complete with an aesthetic fireplace.

Owning a business at Patriot Place comes with its own unique challenges. With Gillette Stadium’s connection, crowds can fluctuate dramatically depending on sporting events, concerts and the time of year.
"It's a challenge," Karavasileiadis said, describing the customer traffic. While summer tends to bring consistent business, event days can create sudden rushes of people followed by quieter periods.
Even major sporting events don't always guarantee a significant increase in sales. Despite the excitement surrounding the World Cup this past summer, Karavasileiadis explained that the tournament did not produce the business boom some might have expected.
"We sell frozen yogurt, we don't sell beer," he joked, making a connection to the primary audience of the World Cup.
Instead, some of the business' strongest periods come when local students return to the area. Karavasileiadis said students from surrounding schools and colleges regularly visit Menchie's, often returning after spending time away during the academic year.
“We go at least once or twice a month,” Dean College Senior Arianna Amaral discussed how the school’s Softball Team frequents Menchie’s. “I think a lot of people really like the atmosphere of being in Patriot Place.”
Menchie’s location in Patriot Place makes it a standout for students looking for a place to spend an off day. From attractions like axe-throwing, both quick and sit-down food options, and sweet treats like Menchie’s, the Patriot Place experience is very appealing.
Karavasileiadis, having worked in the restaurant industry for years, stresses the importance of the quality of the product served. He explained that the company's frozen yogurt products originate from California and praised the brand's emphasis on quality ingredients and yogurt cultures. "The product that's there, the quality is the highest," Karavasileiadis said.
His appreciation for the company began during his initial training in California, where he first tried the frozen yogurt that would eventually become part of his business. And despite the variety of flavors available, one has remained his favorite since that first experience: toasted marshmallow.
Beyond frozen yogurt, Karavasileiadis has another reason to appreciate his location.
"I love my Patriots," he said.
His connection to the community plays a major role in how he operates his business, particularly when it comes to supporting students. Karavasileiadis is a sponsor of the Dean Daily and has supported the school publication over the past year.
As a father of an almost college aged daughter and a former college student himself, Karavasileiadis understands the importance of supporting young people as they pursue their education. He recalled interacting with Dean College students over the years that helped strengthen his familiarity with the college community. Those interactions contributed to his interest in supporting Dean College and its students. "I want to help the community here."
