There could not have been a better time of year to go to Greece. The weather was perfect, and it only rained once. The day it rained was one of our first days there and then it did not rain again. That was one of the days that 29 other students and I were in Athens and our tour guide that day was the same throughout our time on the mainland.

We took our tour to see the town and the surroundings of where our hotel was. We had free time later and me and we went back to some of the shops that we saw on the tour, including a cute little store called Margharita’s where I got a cute little necklace for my cousin and Margharita has a cute little cat in the store who came out to say hi.

On another day in Athens, I along with the 29 other students and the chaperones, went to the Acropolis and the museum that was a part of it, where I saw a Lego version of the acropolis. We were in Athens for three days and then we drove to Delphi, which was probably about three hours via bus.

The sites in all the places we went to in Greece were amazing. Before we drove to Delphi, we walked on what was called Cape Sounio and we got to see the sunset over the water, which was nice. In Delphi, we saw the Temple of Apollo, where the Oracle supposedly was, and we took a walk with amazing views on Mount Parnassus. We then went to the Delphi Archaeological museum, which is dedicated to the Oracle of Delphi, and it holds a lot of artifacts dating all the way back to 550 B.C.

After we were in Delphi, we went back to Athens to fly to the island of Crete, which only was about forty minutes long. We went to Chania first and we took a guided tour there and our hotel there was very close to a body of water. Before the sun went down, me and a few of my friends went to go see the lighthouse, which was very nice. It was nice, but in order to get close, we had to walk around the whole body of water.

We then went to go visit the ancient city of Aptera and the Holy Trinity Monastery. There were surprisingly a lot of cats outside the Monastery. The Monastery was very nice to walk around in, as there were a lot of pictures and fabrics on the wall and it was also very colorful. After we were in the Monastery for a little bit, we went downstairs and there was a little building with olive oil tasting and a place to buy different kinds of olive oils, soaps, perfumes, and other things.

On the second to last day, we spent the day touring Rethymno. We went to a couple stores during our free time in that town and we walked to a cute little beach. It was a very nice day to be on the beach and some people on our tour, actually, went into the water. I opted out of going into the water and instead just took some pictures with my friends.

On our last day in Greece, we flew back to Athens from Crete and had a little free time in Athens and then we had dinner with the whole group. We were all very sad when the trip was over, but happy that we had gone. Our tour guide, Eva, was awesome and it was very sad to leave her.
