Buccaneers Take Down the Bulldogs 70-0 in Buzzards Bay
The Bulldogs came into this game with a lot of momentum following one of the best offensive performances in program history, tallying over 500 total yards of offense for the first time since 2019.
However, the story would be much different today as the Massachusetts Maritime Academy Buccaneers advanced to 2-0 in the young season with a devastating 70-0 victory over Dean College.
Dean College won the coin toss and deferred, giving Mass Maritime the first offensive possession of the game. The scoring onslaught got started right away in just four plays for the Buccaneers as wide receiver Santiago Martinez found the back of the end zone to make it 7-0.
Now on offense for the first time, Senior quarterback Chris Donohue got things started right away using his legs and his arm to get two Bulldog first downs. The opening drive of the game for Dean fell short, however, after turning it over on downs.

The triple-option Maritime offense got back to work and scored two quick touchdowns on the ground in a three-minute span to extend the lead to 21-0.
Another turnover on downs and a fumble in back-to-back possessions for Dean would allow Coach Jeremy Cameron's offense to get settled in good field positioning once again.
Mass Maritime would score two more touchdowns to start the second quarter as Martinez hauled in his second touchdown grab of the day to extend the Bucs lead to 35-0.
Following the conclusion of the first half, the Bucs would go into the locker room up 49-0 over Dean.

To start the second half, the Bulldogs would get the ball first. They had two-first downs in that drive, but not much else to show for it as they were forced to bring Dylan Cobb on to punt again.
Now on the offensive side for the first time in the second half, Mass Maritime would score again on the ground extending the lead to 56-0 in the third.
This Buccaneer team has been extremely strong on the ground this season, and they continued that today. Bulldogs coach Luke Bakanowsky spoke on that prior to their matchup stating, "Defending the triple option is like a car crash on every play". It certainly was the case in this one.
The Mass Maritime offense in total would tally 575 total yards of offense with 526 of those yards being on the ground. Twenty-one different players ran the ball for the Buccaneers in what was a monster conference win.
The final score was 70-0 as the Bulldog offense was never able to get in a good rhythm on the road.
Dean College football is back in action on Saturday, September 19th, as they hit the road again to face off against a MASCAC rival in the Westfield State Owls at 2:00 PM ET.
