Another day, and two more wins for the Bulldogs. Dean baseball has turned a completely new leaf this season, now 10-2 and currently the best team in the GNAC. Winning the first game, which was 7 innings ending 9-4, and the second game, which was a 9-inning contest, 10-6.

Game 1:

In the first game for the Bulldogs, junior pitcher Owen Critchley made his third start of the season and did not disappoint the home crowd. Staying on the mound for the entire game, he let up just four runs and 1 walk on the day.

Things started slow for two offensive powerhouses in the GNAC, but like Dean has done all season long, they got on the board first due to their incredible speed running bases. Eventually heading into the 5th inning, all tied at 2-runs apiece.

A homerun in the 5th inning from the Lasers would quickly be answered with a 7-run 6th inning from the Bulldogs. Senior third basemen Gavin Goss was responsible for three of those six runs.

In the end, the Bulldogs got the victory over Lasell, marking the first time since 2022 the Bulldogs have beaten Lasell and the first time since 2017 the Bulldogs had beaten Lasell in Franklin. This also marks first-year head coach Tyler Fitzgerald’s first career win at Longley Athletic Complex in Franklin.

Game 2:

Just like the first game of the doubleheader, the Bulldogs were victorious in game two, with a final score of 10-6. This win moved the Bulldogs to 2-0 in the conference and improved their current winning streak to four games now.

Sophomore pitcher Philip Curran gets the W for the Bulldogs, striking out 5 batters in four innings, while junior pitcher Nick Swain got the start and pitched four innings and struck out 6 batters in the win.

It was a back-and-forth game all game long between the Lasers and Bulldogs until the 6th where the Bulldogs took off.

However, Lasell would lead this game 3-1 through 4.5 innings of play. and then eventually evened up at 3 with Kyler Lorenz reaching home plate and getting an RBI single in the inning.

Senior Gavis Goss continued his success from game 1, with 3 hits, 2 runs, and an RBI in this game. From the bottom of the 6th to the bottom of the 8th inning, the Bulldogs would score 5 unanswered runs; Goss contributed two of them.

Through nine innings, the Bulldogs would win this one 10-6, winning both games of the home opening doubleheader. Head coach Tyler Fitzgerald has made a major impact on this Bulldogs roster so far, as they continue to dominate, now at a GNAC-best 10-2.
