Dean College Short Film Club Gears Up for Fright Night

On Saturday, November 1, 2025, at 7pm the Dean College Short Film club will put on the first ever “Fright Night Film Festival.” This event is a hybrid of a film festival and haunted house.

The event will take place in the science building here on campus. The hallways will be decorated and transformed to add to the frightening aspect of the night. There will be 2 to 3 films shown and will be screened in room 16 on the first floor of the science building. The event is open to all those who would like to attend and there will be snacks and drinks for attendees to enjoy.

Vice President of the club and organizer of the event Annastasia Piccuito (Anna) speaks on the format of these films and hints at one by saying, “All of these films will involve horror elements whether that is a murderer on the loose attacking a group of innocent friends or a haunted house where there is no escape. We will also be featuring a film that was created by our president, Sarah Bognar.”

The club is currently looking for scare actors for the haunted house portion of the event.

There was a film festival last semester on campus but was for more general films. Anna describes the main difference as, “So the last film festival was kind of a mix of different themes and plots. There weren't any specific guidelines for the films last semester. Fright night is a horror film festival, so the films are expected to have scary themes.”

This club is relatively new here on campus as it was established in the spring of 2025. The goal is to bring those together who have a common interest in filmmaking. It allows for students to take interest in roles such as writing, cinematography, acting, and directing. Meetings happen twice a month on Wednesdays in the student center in room 206.
