Coming up on November 20th, opening at around 4:30pm with food being served at 5PM will be the Annual Thanksgiving Dinner held here at the Dean College dining hall.
Friendsgiving will have a little bit of a different look as to how the lines will form this year. Faculty and staff looked at how they were last year and decided to move the lines around the dining hall, so it isn’t as congested, but it will cause a longer overall line. After the lines, there will be a double-sided buffet table with other tables such as a desert table, a bread station, and a drink station.
A question that came up when interviewing students, especially commuters, was, “Is the Friendsgiving Dinner going to be available without using a swipe or having the meal plan.” There will be no swipe required to attend the dinner, and they will be counting how many people attend, so they know how much food they need to make for next year. Even though the focus will be on this dinner, Boomers will still be open at their normal times during this event as well.

There will of course be vegetarian, vegan, and dietary restriction options available. Everything will also be peanut free and tree nuts free. This will all be served along with traditional Thanksgiving food. Turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, ham and more. This will all be accompanied by Chef Eric’s mac & cheese as it has become a staple in the dining hall.
When interviewing students, they wanted a larger quantity of desserts. They also wanted a greater variety of desserts. This may be the case as last year; they ran out of dessert quickly. One student said they wanted “a huge tub of just straight cranberry sauce”. Other than those suggestions, they all just wanted a traditional Thanksgiving meal.
The Doors will open at the Smith Dining Center at around 4:30 P.M. and food will be served at 5 P.M until 7:30 P.M. We hope to see you there!
