FRANKLIN, MA – On Thursday, October 29th, Dean Women’s Basketball hosted its annual media day ahead of the 2026-27 season. A new-look roster for the Lady Bulldogs added 11 first-years, with six returners, and one transfer. The Lady Bulldogs finished last season with a 7-18 record.
In her third season as the Head Coach for the Bulldogs, Megan Dixon says the upperclassmen have been role models for the first-years. “I’ve had them for 3 years, and they know the standard,” Dixon said.
At the end of last season, the Lady Bulldogs ended the season with five players on their roster due to injuries. At one point, they played with three on the floor. Head Coach Megan Dixon says that she smiles more now due to roster size tripling since last season. “There’s not a lot of stress,” Dixon said. “It’s definitely a weight off my shoulders.”
Seniors Kendrah Doane and Jordan Ellis have high expectations coming into this season, especially as they have confidence in the younger players. “The freshmen bring so much energy!” Doane says. “Whenever we (Doane and Ellis) get subbed out, we know we’re going to be fine because we've got people that are coming in that are just as good.”

Jordan Ellis, who is second in double-doubles in school history, says she wants to pick up where she left off last season. “I got to make sure I make myself a threat on the court and being able to get baskets in the hoops.” Ellis averaged 11.2 PPG, 8.2 RPG, and 2.1 AST/G in the 2025-26 season.
A new addition for the Lady Bulldogs is First-year Sarah Berube. A 2-time state champion and an all-time leading scorer at The Lincoln School, averaging 18.2 PPG and 2.6 AST/RPG. Berube hopes to carry her talents over to Dean. “I hope to do something as I did in high school,” Berube said. “Just help the offense in any way that I can, even if it’s not scoring.”

Sarah also said she also learned a lot from the upperclassmen, stating that the transition from high school athletics to collegiate athletics was difficult, but the upperclassmen have been a great support. “They’re all great leaders,” Berube added. “I’m so grateful to be on a team with upperclassmen, who are nice to the younger classmen.”
Kenzie Sherburne, who is a dual-sport athlete at Dean, just wrapped up her women’s soccer season last week. She says that the transition is difficult, but Coach Dixon has made the transition smoother. “It’s pretty much a breeze,” Sherburne acknowledged. “This group of girls has made it so easy, and we’re like all a family.”
Dean Women’s Basketball will open up their season this Saturday at home against the University of Maine, Presque Isle; tip-off is slated for 12 PM at Pieri Gymnasium.
