In Attleboro, the Christmas season begins with the Christmas Festival of Lights at the National Shrine of Our Lady of La Salette. People visit the shrine to see this event as it has historically turned the shrine into an enchanting winter wonderland for over 70 years, drawing hundreds of thousands of visitors to it not only from New England, but also from many other locations across the region.
This year's festival has seen even more growth and more glowing lights illuminating the cold winter nights of Attleboro, with more than 1 million twinkling lights over a total of 10+ acres of the shrine site. Visitors experience not only the beauty of seeing this incredible glow, but they also experience being in an environment that is steeped in the spiritual significance of Christmas.
The festival is full of dazzling lights; however, it's true magic comes through the thoughtfully crafted displays that communicate messages about faith, forgiveness and hope. Each year a different spiritual theme will dictate the placement and design of the awe-inspiring light displays located throughout the festival.
Visitors will have the opportunity to experience illuminated walking paths showcasing classic light displays and displays created in the past few years, all telling the Story of Christ's Birth and the Shrine's essential message. The International Crèche Museum will include one of the largest collections of Nativity Scenes in New England, from over 100 Countries- an extraordinary collection that illustrates the global dimension of the Christmas Story.

The festival provides a comprehensive vacation-style event for families across all generations, cultures, and communities; it is a truly family-oriented
function. This holiday celebration continues to be offered at no charge to attendees/visitors; the purpose of this free service is a way of showing appreciation for our community's continued support. The festival takes place on the grounds of the Shrine and features various family-friendly activities in addition to the walking displays. Activities at past festivals have included rides on a carousel, a ride to Bethlehem, and opportunities to visit Santa Claus at the Welcome Center.
The Christmas Festival of Lights runs daily from November 22nd all the way through January 4th, 2026. The hours you and your friends or family can attend are 5 to 9 pm at the National Shrine of Our Lady of La Salette, 947 Park Street, Attleboro, MA.
Whether you are seeking a moment of peace, a beautiful family outing, or simply an unforgettable display of holiday cheer, the La Salette Festival of Lights is an enduring tradition that continues to be a guiding light for the community this Christmas season.
