US Women's National Team Roster is Revealed!
USWNT Head Coach Emma Hayes named her 26-woman roster ahead of October Friendlies against Spain.
The women's world cup is less than a year away, and the #2 FIFA ranked United States is preparing for the upcoming qualifying tournament. Beginning in November, the Concacaf Women's Championship will determine the 4 teams within the confederation that will qualify for the Women's World Cup.
In preparation of this tournament, two International friendlies have been scheduled for the US. The USWNT will take on the #1 FIFA ranked Spain on October 10th in Washington D.C., and again on October 13th in Chester, Pennsylvania. The team will report to training in Georgia on October 6th.
On Tuesday, September 29th, Emma Hayes released the names of those players called up to international camp. 20 of the 26 players called up play in the National Women's Soccer League, including one from Boston Legacy FC; Lilly Reale.
Lilly Reale not only plays for a Boston based team, but grew up in Hingham, Massachusetts. She played for Boston Club team South Shore Select before going on to college at UCLA.
"She brings the aspect of physicality to the team, but technicality as well," Dean College Junior and Boston Legacy FC fan James Smith spoke about Reale after watching her in club form. "She's got that dog in her."

For more Massachusetts representation, 2024 Olympic Champion Sam Coffey, was called up. Coffey played the first two years of her collegiate career at Boston College. She was named ACC Midfielder of the year in 2018 as an Eagle, before transferring to Penn State. Coffey was called up back in February for the SheBelieves cup but missed the following June camp due to injury.
Among the return of players, Ashley Sanchez makes her return. She has not been featured in a match since 2024 and was last called up in 2025. Sanchez is having a historic NWSL season, leading the Golden Boot race with 20 goals so far, which tied the record for most goals by a player in a single season. If she scores any more, the record will be hers.
Long-time USWNT athlete Naomi Girma was initially called up to the roster as well but has since been replaced due to injury. Girma, who plays for Chelsea, has struggled with injury in the past year. She has been replaced by U-23 Defender Kate Del Fava of the Utah Royals. This is Del Fava’s first call up to the senior team after extensive history with the youth system.
Five uncapped (meaning have not appeared in a National Team game) players have been featured on this roster. Goalkeeper Jordyn Silkowitz receives her 3rd call up, Defender Evelyn Shores, Defender Kate Del Fava, Forward Trinity Byars, and Forward Pietra Tordin all receive their 1st senior team call up after being a product of the US Youth Systems.

"This camp will be about reestablishing connections after a long break," Head Coach Emma Hayes spoke on her roster decisions. "Of course, our dual focus will also be on our final preparations for the World Cup qualifying tournament.”
James Smith gave some score predictions for the upcoming friendlies, "I think they'll split. The US will win in DC, but Spain could win comfortably in the 2nd game."
The first friendly will take place in Washington D.C. against Spain on Saturday October 10th at Audi Field at 2:30PM! The second game will be in Chester, Pennsylvania at Subaru Park on Tuesday, October 13th at 7PM!
