In a recent survey sent out to a group of Dean College students and faculty, there is a consensus on the movie everyone is interested in seeing while on Thanksgiving break. The Dean community is excited for the release of Wicked: For Good.

With 32 responses 38% of the students selected Wicked: For Good, 25% chose Zootopia 2, 22% chose Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, and 3% chose The Thing With Feathers. 13% of students also said none of the movies coming out over the holiday interested them.
With movies being a big topic a question that always comes up is if anyone actually goes to the theaters anymore. When asked, the students and faculty were split with 17 saying they frequent movie theaters while 15 said they do not.
In the terms of why people said No to attending an actual theater; Most responses included the idea of theaters being too expensive. According to Cabletv.com, “In 2025, it costs an average of $16.08 for a single movie ticket.” In Massachusetts, it is slightly above average with a cost of $16.29.
As students, the three biggest theater chains, AMC, Regal, and Cinemark all offer student discounts at select theaters. Unfortunately, near Franklin only a single theater offers this discount located at the Solomon Pond Mall in Marlborough. If you live outside of Franklin and are interested in checking if a theater near you carries this discount; visit regmovies.com/student-discount.
