Bulldogs Battle Back, but Fall to Lasell in Three Sets
Pieri Gymnasium was the site for Tuesday night's GNAC volleyball matchup between the Lasell University Lasers and the Dean College Bulldogs where the Bulldogs fell 3-0. Dean came in with a record of 0-10, with Lasell coming in at a record of 4-6.
The Lasers went on an early 7-0 run to start the match, the run ended with a kill from Senior Chloe Demaio.
The Bulldogs then called a timeout trailing 14-6 in the 1st set. They rallied after the timeout and went on a 3-0 run, sparked by service errors by the Lasers.
It was a back-and-forth, physical first set. But Lasell came up on top in set 1, 25-12.
The Bulldogs started the second set strong with a 5-2 lead due to blocking and service errors by the Lasers. Eventually, Lasell went on a run which caused Dean to call a timeout.
But it didn’t take long for the Bulldogs to rally back, tying the set 15-15 on kills by Sophomore Ali Murphy and Junior Angelina Steiger, forcing Lasell to burn their first timeout. Fans in Pieri Gymnasium were on their feet, cheering very loudly.
Although Dean remained physical throughout set 2, they came up short with a 25-20 Lasers set victory.

To start the 3rd set, Dean remained strong, battling through it all with Lasell. The Bulldogs were exchanging kills with Lasell and although it was a fight between both teams, the Lasers went on a run at the end to clinch the victory over the Bulldogs. The final score in set 3 was 25-18 Lasers, sweeping the Bulldogs 3 sets to none.
The final stat line of the game saw Junior Maddy Seymour leading the team in kills with six, followed by Angelina Steiger having four kills of her own. Senior Emma Siniscalchi and Sophomore Lily Miller both led the team in aces with two. Siniscalchi also led the team in assists with seven. Finally, Ali Murphy led the team in total blocks with two.
The next game for the Bulldogs is this Saturday at home against New England College (NEC). The match time is slated for 3:30 pm.
