FRANKLIN – After a slow start to their 2026 GNAC campaign, the Dean College Men’s Lacrosse team had a statement to make.
They delivered that message to the conference with a 28-1 win over the Colby-Sawyer Chargers Wednesday at Grant Field.
Although there was handful of goal scorers, Jimmy Erickson was credited with the game winning goal off a Connor McCarthy feed from behind the cage.
Some other notables from the first quarter, Manny Alvarez-Segee registered his 50th point of the season through two goals and four assists in the quarter alone. Freshman defender Ronan Cafferty scored his first collegiate goal, after he scooped up a ground ball and finished the play with a low bounce shot. Nick Fernandez contributed a hat trick of his own, topped off with a spin move around the goal tender and scoring on an empty net. The Bulldogs took a 13-0 lead into the break.
The second quarter played out similar to the first, with more Dean dominance. Chirstian Whittle, John Scherer, and Colin Brady all tallied their first goals of the season. The half ended with the Chargers getting their first goal of the game through James Masterson. The half ended and Dean had a 19-1 lead.
The second half saw both teams slow down on the scoring with only nine goals scored in the half.
Second half goal scorers included: Kyle Pianka, Nathan Hartshorn, Gavin McCarthy, Kevin Gardner, Josh Hackett, Erickson, Scherer, and Aaron McDonald.
This win boosts the Bulldogs to 5-5 and they will travel to New Hampshire on Saturday to face off against the New England College Pilgrims at 3pm.
