The Keene State College Owls traveled to Franklin last night, defeating the Bulldogs 107-62. The Bulldogs drop to 1-5 as the Owls improve to 3-1.
It was a strong opening to the game for the Owls right from the tip. They got early free throws and put on a full court press to trap Bulldog ball handlers and get a shooter open for a quick three.
Senior Abigail Lacy would tack on the first points of the game for the Bulldogs going 2/2 from the free throw line. Then, freshman guard Kenzie Sherburne would make a good move to get by the defense and score a layup to put the Bulldogs up 4-3, ultimately being the last time they held the lead in this ball game. The Owls would go on a 29-8 run for the rest of the first quarter. Senior guard Valerie Luizzi hit 3 three-pointers during this run.
The Bulldogs offense would come out strong in the second quarter starting on a 9-4 run with Senior Abigail Lacy contributing five of the nine points. A 17-6 run by the Owls to end the second quarter would cap off a monster first half as the Owls led 53-27 after two.

Multiple members of the Owl offense continued their hot shooting in the second half going on a 13-0 run to start the half forcing Bulldogs head coach Megan Dixon to call a timeout.
Going into the fourth quarter, the Owls continued to have all the momentum, leading 83-34. In the end a good fight by both teams, but the Owls game plan for this game was executed to perfection, winning 107-62.
A disappointing loss for a Bulldogs team who hold themselves to high expectations. Junior Guard Azaria Landry said before the season, “We should hold each other to a high expectation each and every time we step on the court whether it's practice or a game."
Landry also mentioned, “We got a good group of ladies who are willing and always ready to work." The future of this young Bulldogs group is extremely bright as their next game is November 20th, at Worcester State University at 7 PM.
