NEW LONDON, CT – The Dean College men’s lacrosse team defeated the Mithcell College Mariners 18-5 Tuesday afternoon in Connecticut.
With the GNAC playoffs on the horizon, this was a great opportunity for the Bulldogs to add any last-minute fixes.
Dean really took solid control of the game in the second quarter, winning the period 8-1.
The game began with a flurry of shots, which led to a loose ball scooped up and finished off by Joseph Marra. The combination of Manny Alvarez Segee and Nick Fernandez was in display once again, with Fernandez scoring back-to-back goals, both on feeds from Segee. Chrisitan Whittle and Segee both scored their first goal, and Dean took a 5-1 lead after the first quarter.
Two players recorded hattricks for Dean in the second quarter alone. Connor McCarthy scored the two opening goals, with his third coming a few minutes later. Segee followed up his teammate with his hattrick coming at the end of the period. The Bulldogs took a 13-2 lead into the break.

The second half saw far less action with Dean taking longer possessions and only scoring six goals in the entire half. Segee, McCarthy, Nathan Hartshorn, and John Scherer were the Bulldog goalscorers.
Whittle tallied one more goal in the fourth on an assist from Kyle Pianka, and Dean took a commanding 18-5 win.
This moves the Bulldogs up to 9-6 and they will travel to Connecticut to face off against the USJ Bluejays in the GNAC quarters finals at 1pm.
