Opinion: Has the City of Angels Lost Its Wings?
When you think of great sport cities, Los Angeles very much may be what comes to your mind, alongside others such as New York, Boston, Chicago, etc. They have all had their moments, their ups and downs, everything in between. It is no different for LA. Yet right now, across all major sports leagues, the City of Angels is falling fast with no upside in view.
To start, the MLB LA corner has gone through a tough haul in current standings, with the Angels ending off their season with 100 losses on the record. A terrible statistic for the Angels, and with no promising talent or leadership for the near future, the Angels may be here for a while.

So too the Dodgers, seeking a 3 peat with an incredibly talented squad got swept by the Brewers. An awful look for the organization and brought to question by both critics and fans whether the Dodgers really have the power they think they do.

Things could be worse though, in the NFL things are on red alert on both sides of Sofi. Starting with the Chargers, where to even begin? Polled to be top of the AFC West at the start of the season, the Chargers sit as the only team to be winless almost 2 months into the season. There is no one issue or scapegoat, they need to take a long look at themselves and change a lot to really see success from here on out.
The Rams aren’t doing much better, polled to be the number 1 dominant team in the NFL and heavily favored to win the Superbowl, currently sit last in their division even with the Cardinals, who were projected to be dead last, sitting on top of them. It’s harder to pinpoint what’s going on with the Rams in comparison to the Chargers, but it’s safe to say it’s not a one-off fluke, it’s an issue that needs to be addressed.

Finally, with the NBA set to start play instantaneously and the NHL already underway, how are the LA teams doing there? Well with the Lakers it’s too soon to say as the season just started. Regarding the Clippers, they also aren’t doing good. Following the scandal that happened a few months ago that saw them lose 10+ years of draft picks, they are doomed for a long while.

What about the Kings in the NHL? Well, to start the season off they had remained winless, at one point even being the only team in the league to have not won a game. However, they did manage to turn that around against the Capitals, picking up their first win of the season. so hopefully they can figure themselves out.

So, the City of Angels is in ruin no matter where you look, but that may not be a bad thing depending on where you are reading from. With LA traditionally having at least one powerhouse team, all their teams being in shambles leaves room for other teams to pick up their slack and take their reigns, it may even be Boston who cleans up after them.
