This Friday, November 28, record shops across the country will open their doors for Record Store Day Black Friday (RSD Black Friday). The annual celebration of vinyl culture that delivers exclusive releases, rare pressings, and door-buster deals just in time for holiday gift-giving.

This year’s RSD Black Friday is expected to deliver over 170 limited vinyl releases ranging from new live recordings and colored reissues to previously released tracks and special anniversary editions. For a list of titles that are being released, visit https://recordstoreday.com/SpecialReleases

For many fans, it’s more than just shopping day. First timers and hardcore collectors are making plans to line up at their local shops before dawn, hoping to secure these pressings before they’re gone.

The 2025 Black Friday lineup includes a mix of modern and legendary names.

  • A live 10-inch vinyl EP from Billie Eilish.

  • A previously unreleased variant of Bob Dylan’s classic album that restores tracks omitted from the original release.

  • Special edition pressings from acts old and new: from rock-and-roll legends like Fleetwood Mac, Prince, Tom Petty and Elton John to modern fans’ favorites such as Chappell Roan, Post Malone, Olivia Dean and more.

Because these are shop-exclusive or small-batch pressings, they’re likely to sell fast which adds to the excitement among collectors.

Another store with great deals for the week is Target. If you’re buying multiple records for yourself or as gifts, the “buy 2 get 1 free” deal is a good opportunity to get more value.

Target-exclusive vinyl releases make Target a viable alternative to dedicated record shops especially if you want mainstream and collectible titles without driving far.

Because Target’s sale runs over almost a full week (not just Black Friday), you may have more flexibility, and this means less chaos and lines than a single-day rush.

Record Store Day and its Black Friday edition began as a way to celebrate independent record stores as small businesses, community hubs, and places of physical media in an increasingly digital world.

Record Store Day demonstrates that vinyl remains relevant. Artists both new and legendary are releasing special editions; fans of all ages are lining up, and many shops are introducing new buyers to records just in time for the holidays.

In an era of streaming and digital playlists, RSD Black Friday and the broader holiday deals offer something tangible: physical artifacts of music, careful curation by record-store staff, and a shared community of fans gives the kind of experience that streaming can’t replicate.
