FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – In the final home game of their inaugural season Boston Legacy FC edged out Racing Louisville FC 2-1. Boston Legacy makes it two wins in a row with two different goal scorers finding the back of the net and while both teams are already eliminated from the playoffs, it was a hard-fought match.

After a one-hour weather delay, the teams got off to a sluggish start with both sides trying to find their offensive rhythm. Despite this, Boston Legacy FC (9-5-14) was able to find the gaps early and take advantage of the slow start from Louisville. This was a change from their last matchup against them where Boston lost 4-1.

In the ninth minute, Boston moved the ball up the right flank of the field and made precise passes towards their offensive front. The ball found the feet of Bianca St-Georges, who raced past her defender into the corner. With her feet free, she crossed it in front of the goal, setting up Amanda Gutierres, who tapped it past Jordyn Bloomer for the first goal of the game.

After a couple more scoring chances from either team, the ball ended up with Laurel Ivory, Boston's goalkeeper who was starting in place of the injured Casey Murphy. When trying to get it back up to her defense, Ivory didn't get enough power behind the pass before it was intercepted by Kayla Fischer who easily found the equalizer from close range. Racing Louisville FC (7-3-18) tied up the game 22 minutes in.

Ivory made up for the mistake a few minutes later when she saved a shot right in front of her and would go on to have four saves in the game.

In the first half, the Legacy out possessed Louisville nearly by a margin of 70-30 and outshot them 8-6, despite the goal let up, Boston held their ground on defense and was able to keep the ball with their offense for the majority of the first half.

It didn't take long for the Legacy to strike again coming out of the break. Just five minutes into the second half, a perfectly placed ball from Sarah Schupansky got put into play, and Deja Davis took it the rest of the way for her first career NWSL goal.

When asked about Davis' goal, Head Coach Filipa Patão said, "First, congratulations to Deja and congratulations to our assistant coach, Bárbara Reis, she does the set pieces. It is great for her to score goals, but I prefer to talk about the way that she defended today."

The Boston defense held on once again throughout the end of the second half, not allowing Louisville to get another scoring opportunity.

The match ended 2-1 in favor of Boston, closing out their home campaign with a win in front of 13,892 fans in Gillette Stadium.

When asked about the Boston fans, midfielder Annie Karich noted, "It's incredible, you can really feel the energy on the field, and they really have helped push and carry us through this season."

The Legacy will end their season with two away competitions, heading to the west coast to take on the San Diego Wave on October 25th and their season finale against Angel City FC on November 1st.
