On Wednesday night, Dean College Women’s Basketball captured their second win in a row, with a dominating 75-43 victory over the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts in Pieri Gymnasium to improve their record to 3-6 on the season, while MCLA falls to 0-4.

Dean and the Trailblazers got off to a rocky start in their first game back from Thanksgiving break, shooting a combined 15-45 in the first quarter and 13 total turnovers. The Bulldogs took control of the game in the second, jumping out to a 42-22 halftime lead, allowing only 6 total points in the quarter. Dean’s suffocating full-court press would make offense for the Trailblazers hard to come by, and they never surrendered control of the lead after the second quarter.

When asked about the defensive presence in the second quarter, Head Coach Megan Dixon said, “I think we just woke up, and the girls believed in what they were doing. When they’re all on the same page, great things happen.” Great things happened indeed. Dean forced a season-high 30 turnovers in the winning effort.

Kendrah Doane led the way for the Bulldogs, scoring a career high 23 points on 7-9 from three. The Trailblazers had no answer for Doane in the second, where she scored 18 of her 23 points to lead Dean to a 20-point halftime lead. Azaria Landry scored 18 points, while Jordan Ellis added 14 points as well.

The Bulldogs look to extend their win streak to 3 games on Sunday against Bryant and Stratton College (Buffalo) in front of their home crowd.
