FRANKLIN, MA – The Dean College Bulldogs fell 34-0 to the Plymouth State Panthers on Saturday at Dale Lippert Field.

It was homecoming, and the Bulldogs remained in search of their first win of the season. Plymouth State’s Jayden Graham powered the Panthers with 126 rushing yards, helping secure the decisive victory.

A 28-yard rushing touchdown from Graham in the fourth quarter was not only icing on the cake for the Panthers, but it was also the longest touchdown of the day.

Dean started with the ball and on their first drive, they found themselves in a fourth and seven situation in which they elected to go for it, but they couldn’t convert. Plymouth began their drive on Deans’ 10-yard line, and it only took one play for Reece Davis to open the scoring, 7-0 Panthers.

The Bulldogs went with freshman quarterback J’Shaun Reddin to start the game. He completed five passes for 35 yards in his second drive of the game showing positive signs for what has been a stagnant offense. “Yeah, it for sure felt like a different game, we were moving the ball almost every time we were out there,” said junior receiver, Trevor Kuchieski. “We just got to fix the mental mistakes like penalties and obviously finish in the redzone,” he added.

The second quarter had a slow start offensively. A ten-minute stretch of scoreless football was ended on a Plymouth State drive which saw 40 yards of rushing and was finished with a 12-yard passing touchdown when Braden Lynn completed a pass to Mitchell Cripps to extend the lead to 14-0.

Dean took over with just under five minutes remaining in the half. Reddin connected on six more passes for a total of 43 yards, nonetheless the Bulldogs failed to convert on another fourth down and couldn’t capitalize on a solid drive.

The second half was almost all Plymouth State as they put together an eight-minute drive that stretched 69 total yards and 12 plays. The Panthers once again chose ground and pound, running the ball nine times for 59 yards before Braden Lynn found Shawn Harrington in the end zone for another score.

The fourth quarter saw Plymouth reinforce the rushing as they scored two more touchdowns both on the ground, one from Graham and the other from Shea McClellan.

Dean’s final possession began at their own 40-yard line with 3:30 remaining. The Bulldogs moved the ball steadily on the ground, highlighted by multiple runs from Nick Levine that advanced them into Plymouth territory. Despite the effort and a few key gains, Dean was unable to convert on third down, and the drive stalled at Plymouth’s 35-yard line as time expired, ending their comeback hopes.

Dean falls to 0-5 and will travel to Bridgewater State University on Saturday, October 18th at 4pm.
